Update : 29 Sep 2026, 10:20 AM

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has reduced gold prices again, with the price of 22-carat hallmarked gold falling by Tk190 per gram.

Under the new rates, 22-carat gold jewellery will cost Tk19,595 per gram.

The new prices came into effect at 10am on Tuesday.

The Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring set the new rates at a meeting at 9am on Tuesday. The decision was announced in a notification signed by the committee’s chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.

Under the new rates, 21-carat gold will cost Tk18,715 per gram, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk16,070. Gold sold under the traditional method has been priced at Tk13,130 per gram.

The price of one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold now stands at approximately Tk2,28,477. Making charges will be added separately based on the design of the jewellery.

On Monday, September 28, Bajus had set the price of 22-carat gold at Tk19,785 per gram. The latest reduction brings the price down by Tk190 per gram in a single day.

The price had previously been reduced on September 26, when 22-carat gold was priced at Tk19,970 per gram.

Compared with September 26, the price of 22-carat gold has therefore fallen by Tk375 per gram, or approximately Tk4,374 per bhori, in three days.

Silver prices also reduced

Bajus has also reduced silver prices.

Under the new rates, 22-carat silver will cost Tk370 per gram, 21-carat silver Tk355, 18-carat silver Tk305 and traditional-method silver Tk230 per gram.

The price of 22-carat silver was Tk385 per gram on September 28, meaning it had fallen by Tk15 per gram in one day.

On September 26, 22-carat silver was priced at Tk415 per gram, representing a decline of Tk45 per gram over three days.

VAT cannot be charged separately

Bajus said making charges will apply separately depending on the design of the jewellery.

However, as VAT is already included in the fixed selling price, it cannot be charged separately to customers.

For exchanges involving old gold jewellery, 12% will be deducted, excluding making charges and the cost of stones. For purchases of old jewellery, the deduction will be 18%.

VAT cannot be deducted separately in either exchange or purchase transactions, according to Bajus.

The new rates will remain in effect at jewellery shops across the country until further notice.

Bajus said the new gold and silver prices were set after considering the overall market situation and a decline in the prices of raw gold and silver.
