Like every year during Ramadan, restaurants are going all out to let us indulge in a wide variety of delicacies. Here’s a list of restaurants offering a special iftar menu. Give each one a shot to see which iftar menu is your favourite:
Mumbai Express
Following their yearly traditions, Mumbai Express is hosting an iftar bazaar. They aim to cover a wide range of north Indian delicacies for the sundowner feast. Their iftar spread includes 8 distinct dishes:
Tandoori Kabuli biryani: A blend of smokey tandoori chicken and aromatic kabuli rice with a balance of sweetness with the raisins. The prices for the tandoori kabuli biryani start at Tk450.
Beef tehari: Who doesn't love a good tehari during iftar? Mumbai Express also offers this beloved iftar dish. gGive their version of a beef tehari a chance. The prices for the beef tehari start at Tk399.
Mutton haleem: No iftar is complete without haleem. Mumbai Express also serves a classic mutton haleem to satisfy your Ramadan cravings. The prices for the mutton Haleem start at Tk550.
Chicken lollipop and chicken roll: For chicken lovers, enjoy both chicken lollipop and chicken roll as appetizers at their iftar bazaar. The price for the chicken roll is Tk28 and the chicken lollipop is priced at Tk80.
Boondi mithai: For desserts, apart from the classic reshmi jilapi, they also have boondi mithai, if you would like to end your iftar on an extra sweet note. The price for the boondi mithai is Tk200.
Reshmi and Bombay jilapi: Of course you’ll end your iftar on a jilapi-esque note. While the reshmi jilapi is a thinner, more delicate version, the Bombay jilapi is on the thicker side. So take your pick and relish the jilapi. The price for the reshmi jilapi is Tk280 and Bombay jilapi is Tk200.

Jatra Biroti
Bringing in an inclusive menu, Jatra Biroti is serving up a whole host of vegetarian options and platters for iftaar. Their dine-in iftaar spread includes six platters:
All platters come with the iftar staples of two dates, one piyaju (deep fried fritters), one beguni (deep-fried eggplant), a bowl of chola bhuna (roasted chickpeas), a deep-fried spinach, a house special sour yogurt served with palm jaggery and a lemon and jaggery juice with tokma seeds and psyllium husk for beverage.
All of the platters are priced at Tk420 each, excluding VAT.
- Letka khichuri platter comes with letka khichuri, which is slow cooked and meshed with vegetables and two pieces of deep-fried eggplant.
- Chirar polao platter comes with one deep fried spinach coated with spices, spicy flat rice with fragrant spices (chirar polao) and a portion of mushroom curry.
- Veg biryani platter comes with a portion of fragrant mixed vegetable biryani and mixed vegetable curry slow cooked in coconut milk.
- Mushroom wrap platter comes with one brown wrap stuffed with spicy mushroom filling and a portion of mushroom haleem.
- Daal-roti platter (bread and lentil) comes with two brown wheat roti, one portion of thick lentil and beans curry.
- Doi-chira platter comes with two deep-fried luchis (fluffed flatbread), a portion of slow cooked aloor dom (potatoes with herbs and spices) and a portion of doi chira (sour yogurt with soaked flat rice and palm jaggery.

Izumi
The popular Japanese fine dining spot is also a top go-to for special iftars.
This year, Izumi offers three bento boxes for iftar. The Ramadan regular bento box (priced at Tk3,400+), Ramadan special bento box (priced at Tk5,000+) and Ramadan vegetarian bento box (priced at Tk2,600). All prices exclude VAT.
All bento boxes come with miso soup. Their menu will be updated slightly every 10 days for the regular, and once after 15 days for the special.
Ramadan regular bento box consists of kinoko (mushroom) salad, chicken and tofu karaage with vegetables and sauce, grilled salmon in Asian sauce, vegetable garlic fried rice and chicken katsu with mustard sauce and Japanese pickle. (Available for the first 10 days of Ramadan)
Ramadan Special bento box consists of iceberg lettuce with smoked salmon, deep fried chicken (boneless) with lemon, assorted nigiri, halibut in teriyaki sauce with eggplant miso, beef tenderloin tataki with tomato olive sauce, and ginger. (Available for the first 15 days)
Vegetarian bento box consists of green vegetables with avocado salad, tofu steak with vegetable and sauce, vegetable tempura, mushroom yaki udon, eggplant miso sauce and Japanese pickle.
Reservations are required and pre-orders are mandatory at Izumi, which is in Gulshan 2.
Manzo
Another fine dining spot that has become a fan-favourite is offering an iftar special menu. Their 3 course iftar menu features:
Amuse bouche: Pao bread, miso butter and customized dates.
Soup of the day
Appetizer platter: Fried eggplant with smoked salmon, potato croquette stuffed with beef ragu, and avocado hummus tostada.
Main course: Mushroom risotto with pan-seared chicken or steamed fish papilot with stir-fried black rice.
Dessert: Fresh yogurt with homemade protein powder, fresh fruits and lychee honey.

Mamagocho
This modern Thai restaurant with an ardent following is offering iftar bentos that will spoil you for choice.
There are two types of bento boxes. Both are priced at Tk1,150 (all inclusive).
Bento A consists of egg fried rice, mama’s special dusty beef, spicy lemon plum chicken, mama’s special veg bowl, assorted tempura, mini chicken satay, minty lemon salad, and lemonade.
Bento B consists of egg fried rice, tangy tamarind prawn, cashew nut chicken, mama’s special veg bowl, assorted tempura, mini chicken satay, minty lemon salad, and lemonade.
