Update : 26 Oct 2024, 06:37 PM

JCI Dhaka Sparks and Air Scout Alumni Association (ASAA) jointly initiated the project “Drops of Hope” to provide clean and safe water in the Khila Bazar East Batabaria area of Comilla district and Nandipara Dhanya Daiolo Bazar upazila.

Five deep tube wells with water pumps, four submersible water pumps, six buns of dew tin, and cash assistance were provided.

This project will provide clean and safe water to 3,000 people in East Batabaria, Nateshwar, Comilla district.

Millions of people lost their homes and businesses in the recent floods in the Comilla, Feni, and Noakhali districts.

Hundreds of families have become destitute. Agricultural production has declined alarmingly as climate change has increased salinity in soil and water.  As a result, many people have lost their jobs and there is an acute shortage of safe water.

The groundwater in most of East Batabaria, Nateshwar, is also saline, so even installing tube wells is not possible to alleviate the shortage of fresh water. As a result, various diseases are contracted by drinking unsafe pond water. Women and children are especially at risk, and Deep tube wells are required.

Saiful Akash, executive vice president (EVP) of JCI Dhaka Sparks and a lifetime member of ASAA, assured us that they will install water pumps with deep tube wells. Under his leadership and in the presence of other members of JCI Dhaka Sparks, the Drops of Hope project was completed.
