Gulshan's elite respond to the security crisis in their Porsche Cayennes

If you happen to hear the low growl of a Porsche Cayenne rolling through your neighborhood at night, don’t be alarmed. It’s just another concerned citizen, doing their part to keep the peace

In a turn of events that can only be described as "Gulshan's most luxurious crisis," citizens across the more well-to-do areas have taken it upon themselves to patrol their neighborhoods in style. Following Sheikh Hasina's dramatic resignation amid a wave of student protests and the subsequent police strike, the streets of Bangladesh have been left without their usual guardians in blue.

But fear not, for the wealthy and the well-to-do have risen to the occasion, ensuring that law and order are maintained—from behind the leather-wrapped steering wheels of their BMWs, Land Cruisers, and Lexus SUVs.

As the police force mourns the loss of officers who found themselves at the wrong end of a student protest, the country's elite have decided to step in to stand beside the students and take part in night patrol, armed not with batons or badges, but with luxury vehicles that cost more than most citizens' lifetime earnings. Why stroll the streets when you can glide over dacoits with the power of a twin-turbo V8?

The sight of these impromptu patrols has left the internet in stitches. Social media is abuzz with videos and memes of young citizens with batons and sticks out of the windows for their Land Cruisers cruising through narrow alleyways in search of “Shotrus.”

"Who needs a police car when you've got a Mercedes GLS patrolling the streets? I feel safer already," one netizen quipped, adding a laughing emoji for good measure.

In some neighbourhoods, the makeshift patrols have become something of a social event. Families pile into their Harriers, snacks in hand, ready for a night of "keeping the peace." The irony, of course, is not lost on anyone. "It's like they're hosting a block party with German engineering," commented another on a Facebook post.

Yet, despite the apparent absurdity of it all, these luxury patrols have become a symbol of resilience. "We may have lost our police force, but we haven't lost our sense of style," said one proud Land Cruiser owner, adjusting his designer sunglasses as he prepared to do another lap around the neighborhood. "And if we happen to scare off a dacoit or two with our shiny chrome rims, all the better."

So, if you happen to hear the low growl of a Porsche Cayenne rolling through your neighborhood at night, don’t be alarmed. It’s just another concerned citizen, doing their part to keep the peace.
