When people of colour migrate to the West, they often confront a unique challenge: they find themselves caught between the expectation to conform to their homeland's cultural norms and the reality of being perceived as outsiders in their adopted country.

This dual struggle, characterized by feeling "too whitewashed for home" yet "too brown for the country you move to," establishes a distinct minority experience that resonates with few.

Addressing these complexities, a three-part miniseries titled "Westerners’: Fresh Blood," created by Munasib Hamid along with Kevin Duo Han, Miski Omar, and Shehryar Hussain, delves into the intricacies of cultural pluralism from a Western perspective. Each episode of the show delves into the characters' internal battles with self-perception within the backdrop of a predominantly white society.

In collaboration with ABC and Screen Australia, Munasib Hamid and her team—comprising Kevin Duo Han, Miski Omar, and Shehryar Hussain—crafted a narrative that follows the lives of three young Sidneysiders across the three episodes. Through the lens of surreal storytelling, the miniseries intricately intertwines the diverse tapestry of multicultural Australia, offering a nuanced exploration of identity and belonging in a complex societal landscape.

It captures the energy that "Westerners" bring to Australia's creative scene while also shedding light on the complex challenges faced by young people from varied backgrounds as they try to live harmoniously integrating their cultures while experiencing borderline identity crisis.

The story follows three interconnected stories: that of Jackie, a Cantonese-Australian visual artist battling generational differences and familial reservations; that of Tasneem, an aspiring  Bangladeshi-Australian fashion designer coming of age in Western Sydney; Abdullah, a Lebanese-Australian thinking about conventional marriage expectations and wanting to avoid marriage at all costs.

With contributions from local comedians, rappers, filmmakers, and DJs, the series is a hive of activity in Sydney's creative community behind the scenes. A broad and exciting soundtrack is promised by Nerdie of 1300, Bengali singer/producer Dameer, rappers IJALE and Manu Crooks, and producer/DJ Moktar. The groundbreaking sound that Bengali singer/producer Dameer creates by combining traditional Bengali music with modern production techniques is recognised and loved by people all over the globe.Tasneem and Dameer are representatives   of Bengali culture in the media for the west.
