Prices of cooking oil and sugar have increased by Tk12 and Tk13 respectively on Thursday.
Soybean oil price has hiked by Tk12 to Tk190 per liter while the price of sugar by Tk13 to Tk108 per kg.
The new rate became effective from Thursday.
According to a circular of the Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association, the maximum retail price of sugar is adjusted in accordance with the international market.
Following this, an application for price adjustment was made on November 3 with necessary documents.
Later, two rounds of discussions were held with the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission regarding price adjustment.
As per the new prices, per kg loose sugar price is Tk102 and packaged sugar price is Tk108 per kg.
Meanwhile, in a separate notification, Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Bonaspati Manufacturers Association said that the maximum retail price of edible oil is adjusted in line with the international market.
They then filed an application for price adjustment on November 1 with necessary documents.
This was also followed by two rounds of discussions with the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission regarding price adjustment. The commission agreed on price adjustment.
The new price of bottled soybean oil from Thursday is Tk190 and 5 liter bottle Tk925 taka; unpacked soybean oil price is Tk172 per liter and palm oil Tk121 per liter.
