The government will award CIP (commercially important person) status to 181 business people for 2021.
140 of the recipients will be recognized for outstanding performance in the export area in 2021.
Meanwhile, 41 persons from various trade chambers and bodies received ex-officio cards.
The Ministry of Commerce has forwarded a list to the Cabinet Division for discussion on the matter.
The business people will be recognized for their exceptional performance and contribution in the export and trade categories.
Priority seat reservations in planes, rail, road, and waterway transportation are among the benefits provided to CIP cardholders.
While travelling overseas, a CIP receives a letter of introduction from the Foreign Ministry.
They are given special passes to access the Secretariat, special stickers to put on their vehicles, and invites to other public gatherings.
They and their dependents will also be given priority access to hospital cabins.
Previously, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) submitted a draft list of CIPs to the Commerce Ministry so that the necessary steps could be taken.
