Update : 28 Sep 2022, 07:30 PM

What are the most popular Lenovo laptops in Bangladesh and why?

According to the IDC worldwide report for Q1 2022, Lenovo emerged as the No 1 brand by securing a 25.28% market share in Bangladesh for consumer PCs shipped between January and March 2022.

We have seen a considerably strong demand in this segment spanning consumer notebooks, desktops, and all-in-one PCs by Yoga, IdeaPad, and Legion sub-brands. We were also leading in the workstation category in both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, with a total market share of 62.8% for the 2021-22 fiscal year (FY).

Bangladesh is a diverse country with a high-technology quotient. Customers in Bangladesh demand laptops from the entry range to very high-end gaming and processing devices.

At Lenovo, we cater to the entire gamut of customer requirements starting from tablets for students, Intel Celeron i3/AMD R3-based entry-level products to high-end gaming and Yoga with i7/R7 processor with top-notch graphics. Thus, Lenovo is popular across the segment in each of the markets.

Does Lenovo have plans for product diversification in Bangladesh?

Lenovo has a very diversified portfolio available in Bangladesh. For students, we have in the form of tablets to our entry-level desktops and notebook segment. Apart from this, we have our mid-segment in both notebooks and desktops. We also have high-end notebooks as well, in the form of Yoga and Legion gaming laptops.

Along with this, we also have a diversified portfolio on the commercial site starting from the basic notebook and desktop, ending with high-end workstations to do very complicated jobs. We are also strongly present in the server segment through our server storage and solutions in Bangladesh.

Lenovo is also starting a carbon offset program where the corporate customers or even retail customers can contribute towards a greener environment. Through a simple purchase add-on, consumers can compensate for the carbon emissions produced from the manufacture to the shipping of their PC, as well as the power that will be consumed over the device’s estimated lifecycle.

Originally launched for enterprise customers in 2021, Lenovo is one of the first PC manufacturers to bring this type of carbon compensation service to the market and help customers meet their own environmental goals. The carbon offsets from the Lenovo CO2 Offset Service have helped boost sustainable efforts to improve air and water quality and reduce energy consumption.

Can you tell us about the market penetration in Bangladesh?

Lenovo has very strongly engaged with the dealer segment in Bangladesh. We have a wide dealer network across the country that takes the Lenovo products to the end users.

Similarly, we have a very strong presence of our commercial channel partners who help us to reach corporate customers for their commercial products’ needs in Bangladesh.

What are the barriers to entry in Bangladesh and how can we improve the ease of doing business here?

Every country has a unique collection of laws and policies governing its corporate environment.

Bangladesh’s National Board of Revenue (NBR) recently introduced the new import regulations which received a lukewarm response from corporate bodies and individuals as it increases the overall cost of ownership of the products.

As a well-known corporation in Bangladesh, Lenovo is constantly aiming to make smarter devices and technology accessible to everyone, thereby assisting in inching towards a more ‘Innovative Bangladesh’ which can be impacted by the overall complexities in the tax structure that needs to be redressed through reforms.

What are the unexplored opportunities in Bangladesh?

Bangladesh's information technology (IT) services and IT-enabled services (ITeS) industry is already quite lucrative and has significantly helped in building a ‘Digital Bangladesh.’

As the country dreams of a more innovative and digitized ecosystem, it offers an opportunity to companies like Lenovo to further support it with the right technology, devices, and electronic infrastructure.

The best-in-class hardware, software, firmware, and driver support are cleverly combined to enable next-level performance by the laptop.

As a market leader in sustainability having won the sustainability award three years in a row, how do you manage to stay ahead of the curve?

At Lenovo, we have been constantly striving towards a sustainable future through our environmentally and socially conscious operations.
