The Sonata is Hyundai’s answer to affordable luxury

Currently, the 1.6L turbo-charged version is available for Tk55 lakh

Update : 19 Jun 2022, 06:32 PM

We are back today with another Hyundai that is making a significant mark in the mid-ranged sedan market.

The 2022 Hyundai Sonata is a family car that is visually appealing and a great bargain for its price, well only if you’re looking for an alternative to the more expensive German options.

The mid-size Hyundai is offered in a number of different specifications, including well-equipped entry-level trims, three economical hybrids, and a performance variant.

Currently, the 1.6L turbo-charged version is available for Tk55 lakh and it can be heard that the hybrid version is likely to hit the local market soon. However, no official announcement has been made regarding this.

Hyundai's Sonata has continually been a top choice for a sedan with great value throughout the years. However, it appears that Hyundai wasn't content with its lineup, and was gradually losing the market to its better-looking competitors like the Honda Accord. It was at that point that the Sonata underwent a makeover and received an avant-garde stylistic boost.

Interior

The Sonata's interior is stylish and seems more expensive than the sedan's price tag. The materials appear and feel high-end, the back seat is roomy and comfortable, and the dashboard's design is straightforward and practical.

Sonata's 8-inch touchscreen display has sharp visuals and responds to touch inputs quickly. The car's smartphone connectivity is faultless, and it offers widescreen versions of both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Its 16 cubic feet of cargo capacity is more than enough for a lengthy family road trip and offers exactly what we should anticipate from mid-size cars.

In spite of the number of interior features, almost all of the controls are straightforward and intuitive. An unnecessary amount of worry may be added to a short three-point turn since the design demands more attention in order to choose the right gear.

There is plenty of room inside for passengers of all sizes because the interior size is superb and matches that of larger cars in the sector. On the other hand, even those of normal height might have to be careful while getting in and out of the rear passenger doors.

Engine and performance

Although the Sonata is not the class's most agile handler, it is nevertheless calm and responsive when driving. The Sonata is at least decently fast, even though the ride is a little bit more unsettling than we'd want and harsher than other cars in this category.

The Sonata took great strides in its fuel-saving effort with its DOHC with dual CVVT 2.0 MOi gasoline engine and it generates around 192 horsepower. However, as far as the market’s concerned, the official distributor is currently only offering the 1.6 litre turbo version.

The turbo 1.6-litre four-cylinder, eight-speed automatic gets 13 km/litre combined (11 km/litre in the city and 15 km/litre on the highway).

Not just the Sonata, most of the Korean carmakers’ models are gaining a foothold in the South Asian market, which was once dominated by the Japanese Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi.

Spare parts are more available now and I think going for a Sonata is probably one of the best decisions you’re going to make. But if you don’t like how it looks, there’s always the Honda Accord you could go for, which is a bit more fun to drive compared to this.

Hyundai to start assembling cars in Bangladesh

Fair Technology Limited, the sole distributor of the world-renowned Hyundai vehicles in Bangladesh has shared plans to launch locally made Hyundai cars by the end of 2022.

With a target to provide affordable sport utility vehicles, Fair Technology has teamed up with the Korean automobile giant to serve the growing Bangladesh market as the demand for new cars is growing by 5% every year in Bangladesh, where around 5000 cars are being sold across the country.

The company is yet to announce which models are going to be assembled here in Bangladesh, but most likely, it will start off with the bigger models as the Bangladeshi government has slapped a high import tax on SUVs.
