What can you expect from one of the biggest SUVs in the market?

The Hyundai Palisade is one of our top three-row SUV recommendations for 2022

Update : 12 Jun 2022, 06:31 PM

In the market dominated by Prados, Jeeps and Land Cruisers, the Korean brand Hyundai is giving the Japanese carmakers a run for their money with their latest Palisade.

The full-sized SUV is comparable to any European or American brand with all the features and safety ratings the vehicle provides. But like every other car, there are also some drawbacks to using this vehicle on a daily basis.

Today we are going to talk about the pros and cons of the mammoth vehicle and what it offers.

The Hyundai Palisade is one of our top three-row SUV recommendations for 2022. It really does stand out from its competitors, thanks to its well-executed combination of space, technology, refinement, and design.

Interior

A large, Mercedes-like infotainment screen, various trim types, and a center console that rises to meet the dash, leaving more storage beneath, distinguishes the Palisade's cabin. It's appealing as well as practical.

Every Palisade comes with an easy-to-use 8-inch touchscreen as standard. On higher trim levels, a 10.25-inch widescreen unit is available, as it is in most Hyundais currently. You may commit it entirely to one function, divide it 70/30 between two (such as the navigation map and audio system information), or leave it on the three-purpose home screen. The design is comparable with other luxury brands.

Hyundai's large family hauler also has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, and five USB outlets as standard features. Upper trim levels have an extra pair of USB ports, as well as wireless smartphone charging, integrated navigation, and an excellent Harman/Kardon surround-sound audio system.

On top of all that, all base trims now come standard with blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning systems.

How big is the Palisade?

The Palisade is one of the most spacious three-row SUVs available. Few vehicles are as long and broad, and the third-row leg and headroom are among the best in the market. Even a tall adult can fit comfortably back there. Even better, because of the huge rear quarter windows and the wide, upright vehicle sides, whoever sits in the back won't feel too cramped. One-touch power release buttons and distinctive grab handles incorporated into the C pillars make access to the third row easier, although the distance between that pillar and the slid-forward seat is only average. The second row has a typical 60/40-split bench seat with an overall capacity of eight people.

With 18 cubic feet of cargo space behind the elevated third row, it outperforms the competition and there is 45.8 cubic feet when the third row is lowered, and 86.4 when both rows are lowered.

Well, the size might become a challenge when you are riding down the narrow streets of Dhaka and finding a parking space might need some planning ahead. However, with the growing traffic congestion, you might as well spend the hours in a house-sized vehicle than a small cramped one.

What’s under the hood?

A 3.8-litre V6 engine with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque is standard on every Palisade. There's a choice of front- or all-wheel drive, and an eight-speed automatic transmission comes standard. Every Palisade has a 5,000-pound towing capability.

The fuel economy for 2022 is 8 km/L in the city, 11km/L on the highway, and 9km/L  combined.

Well, speaking to an owner who has been using the Palisade for a few months now has assured us that the vehicle performs excellently on highways as well as on dirt roads, which he often has to face while going to his factory located in Shirajganj.

The Palisade's ground clearance is unremarkable at 7.9 inches, and unlike some competitors, it lacks any off-road driving options. However, in slippery or wet weather, its AWD system should give some peace of mind.

The Palisade is available in the Hyundai showroom and a fully loaded unit will set you back 1 crore 30 lakhs, but right after the budget, the price might become a little steeper.
