Simcubator, a three-day incubator program aimed at transforming local startups, kicked off on Friday.
A total of eight startups out of 50 have been initially selected for the program, which has been organized by the University of St Gallen in Zurich in partnership with SELISE, Bangladesh Angels, Nestle and MOAR.
The start-ups are Medifix, Dhaka Doctor, Parents Care, Dhaka Cast, Shafa Care, Vertical Innovations, ToguMogu, and Konna.
On the first two days of the bootcamp, the startups had the opportunity to listen to speakers such as Prof Khondaker Mamun, Nirjhor Rahman from Bangladesh Angels, Prof Dietmar Grichnik from the University of St Gallen, and the Psycure Organization team with Murad Ansary.
Industry experts shed light on topics such as pitching effectively, thinking in business models, and evaluating funding strategies, followed by a pitch session.
After the three-day bootcamp, three companies will be selected to take part in the incubator program till July.
At the end of the incubation program, these companies will get to pitch in front of potential investors and the best startup will secure a minimum of $15,000 in seed funding.
