The 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh (SCB) was held in the SCB Conference Room of Rangs Fortune Square in Dhanmondi on Saturday.
It was presided over by SCB Chairman Md Rezaul Karim.
In the meeting, a one-minute silence was observed to pay respect to former Chairmen and Members of SCB, business leaders and prominent citizens who passed away during the year, reads a press release.
The AGM reviewed, among other matters, the country’s trade, transport, shipping and port-related problems in the context of Covid-19.
It reviewed the performances of the Council during the last one year which include measures taken for enhancing its services to the shippers, for example, exporters and importers. The meeting also discussed its interaction with Asian Shippers’ Alliance (ASA) and Global Shippers’ Alliance (GSA).
The meeting confirmed the minutes of the last AGM, passed the Annual Report of the Board of Directors for 2021, the Audited Balance Sheet and Statement of Accounts for the year 2020-2021 and appointed Auditors for the year 2021-2022.
The Member of Election Board of the Council Binoy Krishna Mondal formally announced the names of new office bearers and directors for the term 2022 and 2023 as follows: (1) Chairman, Md Rezaul Karim, Proprietor, SN Jute International; (2) Senior Vice Chairman, Md Ariful Ahsan, Chairman, Silk Container Lines Ltd; (3) Vice Chairman, AKM Aminul Mannan (Khokon), Proprietor, East West Jute Trading Co and Directors; (4) Md Munir Hossain, Director, Dress World Ltd; (5) Arzu Rahman Bhuiyan, Proprietor, Arzu Jute Traders; (6) Syed Md Bakhtiar, Chairman, Active Logistics; (7) Md Nurussafa Babu, Director, Electro Mart Ltd; (8) Ziaul Islam, Partner, MS Fashions; (9) Ganesh Chandra Saha, Managing Partner, International Jute Traders; (10) Ataur Rahman Khan, Proprietor, AR Khan & Co and (11) KM Arifuzzaman, Proprietor, King Ocean Shipping Lines.
The chairman conveyed his sincere thanks to the outgoing office bearers and directors and also the secretariat of SCB who worked hard for the period for smooth flow of international trade and for representing this council in all related national and International forum. He also urged all to extend their sincere cooperation and support to the Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh.
Many other guests and members joined in the lunch after the meeting.
