Writ filed in HC seeking direction to set up e-commerce regulatory body

A writ petition has been filed in the High Court to set up a regulatory body in governing the ailing e-commerce sector of the country.

The petition was filed by Supreme Court lawyer Md Anwarul Islam Badhan on Monday, seeking directions for setting up an e-commerce governing body.

The secretary to the Ministry of Commerce, the chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the chairman of the Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection and e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) have been made respondents to the writ petition.

The High Court bench comprising of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mostafizur Rahman will be hearing the response of the concerned individuals, according to Md Anwarul Islam.
