When I learnt about the assassination of Bangabandhu, I understood that it was a well-planned murder. The killers not only killed Bangabandhu that day, they also tried to kill the very soul of Bangladesh.
The day still haunts me.
Once I heard the rumours of his assassination, I went to Dhaka Medical College hoping to catch one last glimpse of Bangabandhu. But army personnel had cordoned off his residence in Dhanmondi 32, and his body had not been brought to Dhaka Medical College morgue.
Each year, the month of August reminds me of those horrible memories.
Pakistani military and many alliances tried to kill him several times, but they failed. We freedom fighters never imagined Mujib Bhai would get killed by the people of our own country.
