Traders agree to slightly reduce edible oil prices

'From now on, soybean and palm oil will be sold from mill gate at the newly fixed price'

The country’s edible oil traders had announced a reduction of Tk2 per litre in soybean oil and palm oil price considering the ongoing situation in the country, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Thursday said.

“From now on, soybean and palm oil will be sold from mill gate at the newly fixed price,” he said exchanging views with journalists after the meeting with edible oil traders at the commerce ministry in the capital, said a press release.

Tipu said the ministry was working closely with traders to keep stocks, supplies and prices of essential commodities stable in the ongoing Covid-19 situation. As part of the regular review, discussions were held with edible oil traders, he added.
