Chinese firm to invest $5m in Summit Technopolis

The prefabricated plant construction of Semi Knocked Down (SKD) video surveillance equipment will begin soon and expected to be operational by January 2021

SydneySun, with technology-partner Dahua of China, will invest $5 million in Summit Technopolis to build and operate a video surveillance assembling and manufacturing plant at Block II of the Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in Kaliakoir, Gazipur.

The prefabricated plant construction of Semi Knocked Down (SKD) video surveillance equipment will begin soon and expected to be operational by January 2021, said a press release.

Initially, SydneySun is expected to employ about 90 Bangladeshi engineers along with 10 foreign experts at the plant.

The manufactured products will be sold in the domestic market as well as foreign markets.

In presence of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority managing director Hosne Ara Begum, Bangladesh Computer Samity president Md Shahid-ul-Munir, an agreement was signed in this connection in Dhaka on Monday.

Managing Director of Summit Technopolis Abu Reza Khan and Managing Director of SydneySun Sagor Kumar Tito signed the land lease agreement for setting nation's first video surveillance manufacturing plant on one acre land at Summit Technopolis in Kaliakoir, Gazipur.

Summit Group vice-chairman Latif Khan, directors of Summit Group Fadiah Khan, Salman Khan along with other senior officials of both companies virtually attended the program.

Summit Technopolis Limited, a public private partnership, is the concessionaire for developing infrastructure for hi-tech industry comprising Information Technology, Information Technology Enabled Services, biotech, non-polluting manufacturing assembly lines and precision engineering companies, in the 91 acres area in Bangabandhu Hi- Tech City, Kaliakoir, Gazipur.
