Business bodies in Bangladesh on Wednesday expressed condolences at the death of business tycoon and Transcom Group Chairman Latifur Rahman.
In separate messages, the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI), the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) said his unexpected demise is not only a shock to his family but also a great loss to the nation.
DCCI President Shams Mahmud said Latifur was such a personality who made an outstanding contribution towards the development of business, industry, and investment as well as creating employment generation in the private sector of Bangladesh with full of his hard work, dedication, and integrity throughout his entire life.
Trustee Board members, management and staff of BUILD joined in expressing deepest condolences. His sincere contribution to the nation will always be remembered with great admiration and gratitude, they said.
His contribution to commerce, employment generation, industrialization, entrepreneurship, and social development will always be remembered and cherished, they added.
They further said that his dedication and commitment to development of the private sector was truly inspirational and unparallel.
AK Azad, president of the Newspaper Owners' Association of Bangladesh (Noab) also expressed deep shock at his death.
Transcom Group Chairman Latifur Rahman passed away around 1pm on Wednesday.
