The 26th Build Bangladesh International Expo 2019, a premium exhibition to showcase construction materials and equipment, kicks off in the capital on October 17.
The expo will be held from October 17 to 19 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka.
About 267 companies from 16 countries will participate the expo. The comprehensive exhibition will be arranged targeting infrastructure developers where they will find all major equipments and services pertaining to infrastructure development.
Conference & Exhibition Management Services Ltd (CEMS Global) held a press conference in this regard at the Economic Reporters' Forum (ERF) auditorium at Paltan Tower yesterday.
The major products, sectors and businesses to take part in the three-day expo include power, solar power, lighting companies, water marketing firms, real estate companies, and safety & security firms.
More than 300 stalls and 267 companies from 16 countries including Bangladesh, India, China, Sweden, Germany, Italy, USA, Uzbekistan, UAE, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Finland and Turkey will participate in the expo, hosted by CEMS Global, previously known as Con-Expo.
The companies would bring forth the latest and innovative concepts, equipment, technologies and services related to infrastructure development, said speakers at the press conference.
Meherun N Islam, president and managing director of CEMS, said: “According to The Spectator Index, Bangladesh recorded the highest economic growth among 26 countries in the last 10 years. The country’s gross domestic product (GDP) expanded 188% at the current price during the period. In the past decade, China’s economy grew 177%, India 117%, Indonesia 90%, Malaysia 78%, Australia 41% and Brazil 17%.”
“Once Chinese did not know where Bangladesh was, but now China makes big investment in our economy. This expo is a great networking tool for all infrastructure developers with companies across the globe providing construction, power, solar, water, safety and security, lighting and real estate taking part ,” she added.
Tanveer Qamrul Islam, executive director of CEMS, said: “Many countries have expressed their interest to invest in Bangladesh and currently many companies are even planning to start a production unit here. The infrastructure of a country is one of the major wheels needed to keep an economy moving towards growth.”
At present, major infrastructure development projects are- metro rail, double-decker Padma Bridge (roadway and railway), airport terminal, Karnaphuli tunnel, and a nuclear power plant, he said.
