Inu: Keep Bangladesh's land, water and air space open for business

Update : 03 Mar 2017, 05:46 PM
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has emphasised opening up the country's “land, water and air space for boosting regional trade” if Bangladesh wants to gain in the long run. “We will certainly be benefited if we maintain proper communication with India and China,” he told a programme in Dhaka on Friday. The session was a part of BIID Expo 2017, organised by Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Exponet, SREDA, Power Cell and Climate Parliament. At the programme, Inu said mindsets need to change to keep the “land, water and air space open” for business. “Bangladesh and China have close economic ties. It is time to hold a special dialogue with China ... to close the bilateral trade deficit,” he added. China is one of Bangladesh's top trade partners. Bangladesh Bank provisional data shows that Bangladesh imported products worth $9.64 billion from China and exported goods worth $808 million in the 2015-16 fiscal. The trade gap between two countries stood at over $8.8 billion.
