The India-Bangladesh joint working group (JWG) met in Sylhet on Monday to discuss Bangladesh’s import of hydroelectricity from Nepal and Bhutan through Indian territory.

The meeting - held at the Rose View Hotel in the city - also considered the installation of India’s power transmission line through Bangladesh to supply electricity from the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh to Bihar.

A Bangladesh delegation led by power secretary Ahmad Kaikaus left Dhaka for Sylhet on Sunday to attend the meeting, while the Indian delegation led by Ajay Kumar Bala arrived on Monday morning.
