The government has approved Tk1,10,700 crore as the revised annual development programme for the current fiscal year.
The National Economic Council (NEC) meeting made the approval on Tuesday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Of the total figure, an amount of Tk77,700 crore will be managed from local sources while the remaining Tk33,000 crore will come as project assistance, said Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal
Besides, the government has allocated Tk8,595 crore for the autonomous bodies and corporations. As a result, the total RADP will be Tk1,19,295 crore.
“We have deducted Tk7,000 crore from foreign assistance and Tk3,550 crore from state autonomous bodies’ development programmes,” Mustafa Kamal said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina increased local resources to meet the demand of the RADP.
Later the amount will be disbursed among ministries and divisions within short time, Mustafa Kamal said.
“We will set the RADP implementation rate. So there will be no problem in spending development funds by ministries and divisions,” he said.
In reply to a question, planning minister said the planning ministry has allowed to spend enough funds for implementation of Padma bridge project within the stipulated time.
He said the government has to increase investment to 7% of gross domestic product.
He said the highest allocation in the RADP is transportation sector with an allocation of Tk25,359 crore.
