Metlife provides over $250,000 to entrepreneurs

The MetLife Foundation and Kiva, a global non-governmental organization (NGO) and online pioneer in crowd funding, jointly organized the project to support low income entrepreneurs

The Metlife Foundation has provided over $250,000 to fund entrepreneurs as of the end of May, through the “Take Action” project.

The MetLife Foundation and Kiva, a global non-governmental organization (NGO) and online pioneer in crowd funding, jointly organized the project to support low income entrepreneurs. 

In a two week campaign at the end of May 2018, MetLife Foundation and Kiva, launched “Take Action” only in Asia.

The funds may be used by entrepreneurs to buy sewing machines for producing and selling garments, or by farmers to buy seeds for expanding their harvest.  The loan is fully funded by the Foundation, for disbursement to borrowers who have been vetted by Kiva.

MetLife Asia employees in 11 countries directed their $25 loan token to help various entrepreneurs.

The Kiva team is currently in the process of disbursing the loans to entrepreneurs .With a 96% loan repayment rate, Kiva projects MetLife Foundation’s original contribution will help many more entrepreneurs, said a press release.
