Discounts galore at Dhaka International Trade Fair

Several companies and exhibitors have slashed the prices of their products to draw more visitors at the ongoing month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair 2018 in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. Pavilions and stalls of food, furniture, kitchenware, electronic gadgets, and clothing brands are pulling ahead in the race to attract visitors through discounts. Brothers Furniture is offering 5-15% discounts on its products ranging from sofa set, dining set, bed, chest of drawers, dressing table and bedside table. Fashion house Winner gives 30% to 50% discounts on its products to boost the sale during the fair, said Sazzad, a salesman at the stall. VTech gives at least 10% discounts at its products while Duranta Bicycle gives up to 35% on its products, country’s electronic giant Walton offers 7% discounts on its products. New Gen offers 50% discounts at 3D VR glasses. According to a sells man of the company, usually the company sells a 3D VR glass at Tk2200, which is being sold at Tk1100 in the fair. Furniture company Athena offers 20% discount while Nadia offers 5% to 15% discount at the ongoing Dhaka International Trade Fair 2018. Navana Furniture is offering a 17% discount on its wooden furniture. Food company Sajeeb offers 10% discounts at big basket offer, Akij beverage offers 28% discounts, Romania offers 50% extra at its Lexux biscuit. Partex, another furniture giant, is offering minimum 15% discount on its products displayed at the fair as well as its outlets across the country, Sujit Chakraborty, a sales manager of the company told the Dhaka Tribune. Singer Bangladesh, an authorized dealer of a number of global brands such as Samsung, Dell and Siemens, is also giving discount on their products at the fair. Food processors such as Nabisco, Pran and Abul Khair Group are also offering special packages at prices much lower than the regular prices. Walton officials said they cut down the prices of all sorts of home appliances like irons, coffee makers, electric and microwave ovens, electric pressure cookers, electric lunch boxes, washing machines, air fryers, hair straighteners, automatic voltage stabilizers, hand press mop sets, sandwich makers, toasters, toasters, voltage protectors, vacuum flasks, washing machines, water heaters and water dispensers. Talking to the Dhaka Tribune, a shopper named Saleh Ahmed Rashid said: “Buying anything during the Dhaka International Trade Fair always profitable as companies offer big discount during the fair.”
