IDCOL has a target of financing 1,500 solar irrigation pumps by 2018 and 50,000 by 2025 to replace diesel-operated pumps in rural Bangladesh.
Under the project, GREL will install 134 pumps in Birganj upazila, six in Kaharole upazila, four in Khanshama upazila of Dinajpur district and 42 pumps in Badarganj upazilla of Rangpur district.
It will also procure and operate 9 tractors and 9 trailers for tillage and services to the project sites. The total project cost is Tk49.25 crore, said a press release.
IDCOL will provide Tk17.89 crore as loan and Tk23.91 crore as grant under the project.
