Income tax return submission deadline extended until midnight

NBR Chairman Nazibur Rahman has requested that people submit their outstanding income tax returns by this time, reports Bangla Tribune. As Wednesday (November 30) is the last day for income tax returns submission, taxpayers are rushing to tax offices in large numbers at the eleventh hour. Failure to submit income tax return will result in a 2% penalty on the payable tax for each month it was delayed. The November 30 deadline will not be extended as it was already deferred for two months from Sept 30. However, taxpayers may seek an extension for submission of the returns for valid reasons.
