The 67th session of the WHO’s Regional Committee for South-East Asia concluded on Friday with participating health ministers adopting resolutions to accelerate health action on key areas.
Pakistani citizen held with fake currencies
Customs officials and Armed Police Battalion (APBn) have arrested a Pakistani citizen with fake Indian currencies worth about TK one crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
The arrestee is Mohammad Haris Uddin, 39.
Malala Yousafzai shooters arrested in Pakistan
The Pakistan army have arrested the gunmen who tried to kill schoolgirl campaigner Malala Yousafzai in the country's restive northwest in 2012.
Malala Yousafzai, a teenage activist was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen for campaigning for girls' education, BBC reports.
14 held for cheating in DU admission test
Authorities at Dhaka University (DU) have detained 14 admission seekers for cheating in examination halls during the entrance examinations for honours courses.
They were detained from examination centres at Science Faculty, Arts building, Dhanmondi Ideal College, Eden College, Motijheel Ideal College, Agrani College Notre Dame College and Nilkhet High School.
Cargo ship sinks in Mongla
A cargo ship loaded with 630 tonnes of cement clinkers has sank in Pashur Channel of Mongla Sea Port.
According to the port officials, the clinker-laden cargo ship, MV Hajera 1, sank on its way to Khulna around 10am. The ship sank with eight crew members on board. However, the crew members managed to swim ashore.
3 held with 17 gold bars at Chittagong airport
Customs officials have detained three people with 17 gold bars at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.
The detainees could not be identified immediately.
Ayesha Foyez at ICU
Ayesha Foyez, mother of eminent writers Humayun Ahmed and Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, has been taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Labaid Hospital in capital's Dhanmondi.
Cartoonist Ahsan Habib, the youngest son of Ayesha Foyez said his mother has been suffering from several complications including kidney diseases.
Two go missing as BIWTC steamer rams into fishing-boat
Two fishermen have gone missing and one has been injured when their boat was hit by a BIWTC steamer in Kirtankhola River near Lamchhari area of Barisal city early yesterday morning.
However, BITWC officials denied knowledge of any such accident.
Hindus demand 3-day Puja holiday
Members of the Hindu community have formed a human chain demanding a 3-day holiday for celebrating Durga Puja and getting at least 60 reserved seats in the parliament for them.
Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajot (BJHM) organised the programme in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall at Barisal city centre on Friday.
