Bangladesh has intensified Myanmar border security, preventing Rohingyas from infiltrating through patrols, blocking unauthorized entry, and ensuring safety.

Rear Admiral Md Ziaul Haque, director general of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, inspected the Myanmar border at Teknaf and Saint Martin's island in Cox’s Bazar.

He distributed winter clothes among the cold-stricken and helpless people of Shah Porir Dwip around 10am on Wednesday.

During this time, he interacted with Coast Guard members and inquired about their operational activities.

Regarding the border inspection, the Coast Guard Director General, Ziaul Haque, said: "Since Teknaf and Saint Martin's are close to the Myanmar border, the Coast Guard is working day and night to ensure security. The situation in Myanmar is an internal matter. The conflict between Myanmar's junta and the Arakan Army has been ongoing for a long time. The war has reached a stage where the junta forces are being defeated by the Arakan Army. Due to gunfire between the two sides, border residents feel some fear. However, there is no need to panic. Coast Guard members are standing by the border residents to ensure security."

He further said: "We have intensified patrols along the waterways, preventing Rohingyas from infiltrating via river routes. Additionally, we are stopping Rohingyas from attempting to infiltrate the border. Mainly, some are trying to enter through other routes with the help of brokers."
