32 Rohingyas rescued during trafficking in Cox's Bazar, broker arrested

  • Rescued: 14 children, 10 women, eight men
  • Operation conducted over news of smuggling

Police rescued 32 Rohingyas during trafficking in Cox's Bazar. 

At that time, a broker named Joynal, 28, was arrested on Sunday night.

Inspector Mohinul Islam of Cox's Bazar city police outpost confirmed the information.

According to police sources, there are 14 children, 10 women and eight men among the rescued Rohingyas. These Rohingyas are residents of various camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf.

Mohinul Islam, inspector of Cox's Bazar city police outpost, said that a team of police conducted an operation on the news that a number of Rohingyas were gathered for smuggling in front of Cox's Bazar terminal’s Shyamoli counter. When the police reached the spot, some brokers fled while one broker was arrested.

He also said that a case has been filed against the broker in Sadar police station.
