Members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) have recovered a US-made automatic rifle and ammunition from a Rohingya camp.
They raided Ukhiya Camp No 18 around 11:30pm on Thursday, a day after two groups of Rohingya refugees engaged in a gun battle in Kutupalong.
Mohammad Kamran Hossain, additional superintendent of police at APBn-8, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Friday.
The APBn members came under attack by criminals and retaliated with gunshots, leading to a skirmish.
Later, the law enforcers searched through the camp and seized the rifle and 500 rounds of bullets.
At Noyapara camp in Teknaf the same night, APBn-16 conducted a raid to nab robbers hiding there. They seized four firearms and bullets during the raid.
