Foreign organizations working in Bangladesh with Rohingya refugees in the last six months have spent Tk150 crore on their hotel bills alone.
However, these organizations have not spent more than 25% of their allocated funding reserved for the persecuted Rohingyas, said Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, after chairing the first law and order Cabinet Committee meeting at the secretariat on Wednesday.
The minister blasted the aid agencies, saying it was sad and the Cabinet Committee has expressed deep concern regarding the matter.
Mozammel also said: “The law enforcement agencies have been directed so that Rohingya refugees may not cross over from Myanmar anymore and steps are being taken to relocate existing refugees to Bhashan Char island."
“The Bhashan Char island has been made suitable for Rohingya relocation, which was the government’s decision. Foreign organizations should not concern themselves over the matter and should only deal with the humanitarian aspects,” he added.
At the meeting, members of the committee including Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan were present.
