Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has further reduced jet fuel prices toward the end of May, following several rounds of recent adjustments.

In a press release issued on Saturday, BERC announced a reduction of Tk 39.57 per litre in the price of aviation fuel, with the revised rates taking effect from Saturday midnight.

Earlier on May 7, jet fuel prices were cut by Tk 22.35 per litre. Prior to that, prices were increased by nearly Tk 25 per litre on April 7, while on March 24 they saw a sharp hike of Tk 90 per litre.

Under the latest revision, the price of jet fuel for domestic flights has been reduced from Tk 205.45 per litre to Tk 165.88 per litre. For international flights, the price has been lowered from $1.3385 per litre to $1.0823 per litre.

BERC said the decision was taken following a public hearing held on May 23. The revised pricing was determined based on the average Platts rate of Jet A-1 fuel between May 5 and May 21, the US dollar exchange rate used for Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation’s LC settlements, and prevailing diesel prices.
