The country’s total stock of fuel stood at 192,919 tons as of Tuesday, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division said.
Monir Hossain Chowdhury, spokesperson and Joint Secretary (Operations) of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, disclosed the information at a press conference at the Secretariat in Dhaka.
He said the stock includes 128,939 tons of diesel, 7,940 tons of octane, 11,431 tons of petrol and 44,609 tons of jet fuel.
He also said 3,559 drives were conducted across the country between March 3 and Monday to ensure proper management of fuel distribution.
“These drives resulted in 1,244 cases, with fines amounting to Tk8.451 million collected and 19 individuals sentenced to imprisonment,” he said.
During the same period, authorities recovered 296,305 liters of illegally hoarded fuel oil. Of the recovered fuel, 207,365 liters was diesel, 28,938 liters octane and 60,002 liters petrol, he added.
Officials said monitoring and enforcement activities will continue to maintain stability in the country’s fuel supply chain.
