Payra Thermal Power Plant resumes electricity production

Currently, the power plant is supplying the full capacity of 1,320MW to the national grid from its two units

After nearly two months, the second unit of the Payra 1,320MW Thermal Power Plant in Patuakhali has resumed electricity production.

Following maintenance work, the unit began generating power at 9:30pm on Monday, according to the authorities.

The information was confirmed by Shah Moni Ziko, assistant manager (Investigation) of the Payra 1,320MW Thermal Power Plant.

He said: "Electricity production from the second unit, which was shut down for maintenance, resumed at 9:30pm on Monday. Additionally, the first unit, which was halted under the directive of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), restarted production on December 30.”

He added: “We are now supplying the full 1,320MW of electricity to the national grid."

It is worth mentioning that electricity production from the second unit was suspended on November 9 last year for maintenance.

Currently, the power plant is supplying the full capacity of 1,320MW to the national grid from its two units.
