The government has adjusted the pricing of fuel in line with the global market.
With the latest development, the price of diesel and kerosene has been reduced by Tk0.75 per litre. Price of petrol has decreased by Tk3 and octane Tk4 per litre.
The new prices will come into effect from Friday, according to a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Thursday.
According to the notification, the price of diesel and kerosene per liter has been reduced from Tk109 to Tk108.25. The price of kerosene is kept at par with diesel to prevent adulteration.
The price of octane has been reduced from Tk130 to Tk126 while the price of petrol went down from Tk125 to Tk122.
From now on, prices will be adjusted in the first week of each month under a new automatic system based on the international market.
The government on August 29, 2022, set new prices for diesel and kerosene at Tk109 per litre, petrol Tk125, and octane Tk130 per litre.
The government on August 5 of the same year went for the largest ever hikes in the price of fuel oil—ranging from 42- 52%.
At the consumer level, the retail prices of diesel and kerosene went up to Tk114 per litre, up by a whopping 42.5% from Tk80 per litre. Octane price was raised to Tk135 per litre, from Tk89 per litre.
A litre of petrol was set at Tk130 with a 51% hike from Tk86 per litre previously.
As per the decision, the government will adjust the price of the fuel every month in accordance with the price of the fuel in the world market. If the price of fuel goes up in the world market, it will be increased in the country. Besides, if it will decrease in the world market, it will be decreased according here, said the notification.
