Petrobangla Chairman Nazmul Ahsan said that the people of 11 northern districts including Nilphamari of Rangpur division will get gas supply by June 2023.
He said this after inspecting the Bogra-Rangpur-Saidpur Gas Transmission Pipeline Project at Saidpur in Nilphamari on Friday afternoon.
At this time, the Petrobangla chairman urged the concerned people to complete this project on time.
The project is being implemented by Pashchimanchal Gas Company Limited (PGCL) at a cost of Tk1378.55 crore.
Nazmul Ahsan said that gas line connection work started from Bogra to Nilphamari EPZ via Rangpur in 2018. Already the pipeline laying work is almost completed. The construction work of CGS-TBS and river crossing line are underway.
The work of this mega project based on the priority of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was supposed to be completed by June 2021. After various complications, the deadline has been extended till December this year, but the project is expected to be completed for gas transmission in June 2023.
According to the sources of Gas Transmission Company Limited, a 147.5km long and 30 inch diameter transmission line is being installed from Bogra to Saidpur via Rangpur.
According to the route map, various equipment including transmission line pipe, induction bend, coating materials, fittings, pig trap, ball valve and gate valve have been kept on the acquired land.
The contractor company of Pashchimanchal Gas Company Limited under the authority of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division has completed the land development work including pipe laying.
A central gas supply (CGS) station with a capacity of 100mmscfd (million standard cubic feet per day) is being set up on a three-acre site adjacent to the bypass road at Wapda intersection in Saidpur town, the end of the pipeline.
Apart from this, a TBS (Town Border Station) with a capacity of 50mmscfd is being set up at Rangpur and a TBS with a capacity of 20mmscfd at Pirganj is being set up under the project.
