The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission on Sunday lowered the price of 12-kilogram cylinders of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) by Tk244.
The regulatory agency set the new price at Tk1,178, down from the previous Tk1,422.
The reduced price would be effective from 6pm on Sunday, BERC Chairman Nurul Amin told a press conference.
Every kg of LPG will cost Tk98.17, compared to the previous month's Tk115.31.
The retail price of LPG supplied through the reticulated gas system, also known as the piped gas system, to households will be Tk94 per kg.
Meanwhile, the price of autogas was slashed to Tk54.9 from Tk66.22.
The BERC fixes the price of LPG sold by private companies in cylinders in line with Saudi Aramco's contract prices of propane and butane, the main ingredients of LPG.
The price of LPG has been fluctuating due to the dollar and fuel crises caused by the Russia-Ukraine war.
Earlier in March, the BERC adjusted the price of 12-kg LPG cylinders from Tk1,498 to Tk1,422. In February, the price of every 12-kg cylinder had seen a steep rise - from Tk1,232 to Tk1,498.
