Power supply to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has been restored, after seven hours of disruption, following a power line disconnection.
Power outage, and disruption in water supply hit the airport Sunday morning, causing distress. It was restored in the afternoon.
Group Captain Mehbub, security director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said: "Power connection was partially disrupted around 8am as a power line was cut off during a drive against illegal electricity connections by Dhaka Electric Supply Company (Desco) near Kawla Bazar rail track.
“All the lights and fans were operating. Only air conditioners went out of service due to the power outage."
All the flight operations – both domestic and international were normal, he added.
However, Nur Mohammad, Desco's director of operations, said the electricity line at the airport was cut off during a repair work on a water line by the airport authorities.
“It is their internal problem… Desco is not responsible for this,” he stated.
