On the second day of her husband’s campaign, Mirza Abbas’ wife Afroza Abbas accused that law enforcers of harassing supporters.
Mirza Abbas is the BNP-backed mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation and a former mayor of Dhaka.
Arfoza began at Shantibagh Primary School along with leaders of BNP, Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal. She made the allegations an hour into her campaign, at the Concord Twin Towers. Law enforcers have yet to comment.
The AL-backed candidate for Dhaka South, Sayeed Khokon, claimed he wants to serve the city as a son, not as a father-figure.
“My father, late Mohammad Hanif, was first elected mayor of Dhaka.
“He is not among us today. You all are my fathers, guardians. If you elect me as mayor, I’ll serve you as a son,” Khokon said on the campaign trail in the capital’s Dholaipar.
Dhaka North AL-backed candidate Annisul Huq penned an open letter to the city: “I want to give the city a more green, clean, healthy and liveable environment.” Annisul Huq will publish his manifesto tomorrow from his Nikunja office.
Dhaka North aspirant Zonayed Saki pledged to stress safety on his campaign.
BNP is yet to declare support for any candidate in Dhaka North.

AL-backed AJM Nasir Uddin’s door to door campaign was full throttle yesterday as he promised to ensure all civic amenities to port city residents.
On the other hand, BNP-backed candidate and outgoing Mayor M Manjur Alam is scheduled to start his door to door campaigning from the city’s Patenga area after the Jummah prayers.
Chittagong city unit BNP President Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and BNP Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman were conducting separate campaigns in support of Manjur.
