BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has returned to her Gulshan residence after a three-month stay at her office.
The BNP chief reached her residence around 12:18pm Sunday.
Earlier in the day, a Dhaka court granted bail to Khaleda Zia on conditions in Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust corruption cases.
Khaleda left her office to appear before the court around 9:55am and reached on the court premises around 10:35am.
The three-time former prime minister had been staying at her Gulshan office since January 3. Since then, senior party leaders had been saying that she would not leave the place until the ongoing movement demanding fresh polls gets a rational achievement.
The BNP-led 20-party alliance has been enforcing non-stop nationwide blockade since January 5 in protest against the “confinement” of party chief Khaleda Zia.
However, police authorities and ministers, including the prime minister, denied confining the opposition leader and said the heavy police deployment was in response to Khaleda's request for security.
Political tensions between the Awami League-led Government and the BNP-led 20-party alliance have been increased in January 2015 on the first anniversary of the January 5, 2014 parliamentary elections, which the BNP boycotted.
The ruling Awami League and BNP were scheduled to hold rallies in the capital marking the January 5.
The BNP was looking to observe January 5 as the “democracy killing day” while the Awami League was set to celebrate “victory day of democracy.”
