Four crude bombs have been exploded near the stage of Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on the premises of Salimullah Medical College and Hospital in the capital.
The minister was present at the programme, organised by Sandhani, a voluntary blood collecting organisation, as chief guest.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kotwali zone) Ahaduzzaman said: “The bombs went off at wall behind the dais as early as the program started on the premises of the college around 2:15pm on Tuesday.”
Nasim was not injured in the blasts and the programme ended without further interruption, he added.
Former foreign minister Dipu Moni, MP Hazi Mohammad Selim and MP of Sirajganj 2 Habib-E-Millat were also present at the programme.
No causalities were reported. Besides, reasons and criminals behind the attack could not be traced immediately, the official said.
Police are investigating the matter, Ahad said.
