Police have detained BNP's assistant office secretary Shamimur Rahman Shamim from Shangkar area in the capital.
Wishing anonymity, an official of the Detective Branch of Police told the Dhaka Tribune that the BNP leader was taken to DB headquarters around 5:45pm.
In the last one week, the law enforcers arrested a number of top BNP leaders including acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Details regarding the detention are awaited.
