The police have arrested two members of Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, from New Buthpara, a Jamaat-Shibir dominated region called as Shibir cantonment in Rajshahi.
The arrestees are--Jahangir Hossain, 27, president of ward 30 unit Shibir and his brother, also a Shibir activist Jahid Hossain, 25.
Motihar police station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune: “The siblings, who were wanted in different cases, were on run.”
“We got information that they had returned home. Later, we arrested the brothers, raiding their Buthpara house around 10pm on Thursday.”
The OC added that the Shibir-brothers had their involvement with several numbers of incidents of violence at Rajshahi University and Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology areas.
Some 11 criminal cases were filed against Jahangir while Jahid was wanted in two cases, said the police.
