Stop meetings at deep night, Hasina to Khaleda

Update : 05 Dec 2014, 11:05 AM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon BNP Chairperson Khaleda to stop holding meetings in the darkness of night.

The premier made the remarks in response to a journalist's query about the BNP chief's meeting with government officials on Thursday night.

According to media reports, a group of incumbent and former government officials held a meeting with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office on Thursday night.

"Whatever you [Khaleda] want to do, do it in daylight and stop holding meetings deep at night," the prime minister said.

Replying to another query whether the government will take any action against the officials who met Khaleda Zia on Thursday night, Sheikh Hasina said: "Law will take its own course. Action will be taken against the officials if they violate the law."

Referring to a Hindi cinema named Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Sheikh Hasina said: "People want to know why she [Khaleda] holds meetings secretly at night."

She also said the BNP chief does not want a fair political environment.

"She [Khaleda] has been giving threats of ousting the Awami League government, whereas we are working to move the country towards development," Hasina said.

Sheikh Hasina paid a four-day official visit to Nepal on November 25-28 to attend the 18th SAARC Summit. She also paid a three-day official tour to Malaysia from December 2-4.

The Prime Minister said during her visit to Malaysia, Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur signed four deals -- one agreement and two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and one protocol -- in the fields of manpower export, tourism, art and culture.
