BJP claims Mamata, Jamaat-BNP understanding

Update : 12 Nov 2014, 10:24 AM

Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress had an understanding with Jamaat-e-Islami and BNP of Bangladesh before 2011 West Bengal assembly polls, a top BJP leader has claimed.

Siddharth Nath Singh, the ruling BJP's national secretary, made the claim, reported the Hindustan Times (HT).

Trinamool Congress also provided support to Jamaat and BNP against the ruling Awami League, read the report.

Siddharth was quoted by HT as saying, “The information on quid pro quo [a favour for a favour] is based on Bangladesh intelligence reports, which have been published in news reports of that country.

“Before the 2011 polls there was a quid pro quo between Jamaat, BNP and Trinamool Congress.”

Saradha chit fund money was routed to Jamaat controlled Islamic Bank in Bangladesh and later rerouted to India for subversive activities, BJP National Secretary alleged.

He said: “Is it this quid pro quo, which forced Mamata Banerjee to drop out at the eleventh hour from the then prime minister Manmohan Singh’s Dhaka visit?”

The BJP official also highlighted that Abdul Hakim, the accused in the Burdwan blast case, mentioned about making rocket launchers and testing in Beldanga, Murshidabad.

“Rockets launchers were tested and Mamata Banerjee, her police and administration knew nothing?’ Siddharth Nath Singh questioned.
