BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday alleged that the ruling party men were involved with the Kalshi incident and that the level of violence was increasing as criminals had been freed.
“It seems that there is no government in the country. Democracy is exiled today – barbaric rule is prevailing in the country. A repressive government has been running the country. Criminals are freed as there is no rule of law in the country,” Khaleda said.
She was talking to family members of the deceased in Kalshi incident and some Biharis who met her at the Gulshan office.
Khaleda said: “In the past few months, violence took place in Narayanganj, Feni, Lakshmipur, Satkhira and other places. It was reported that ruling party men were involved in these incidents, but they have not been caught because of their political identity.
“It is an old habit of the Awami League to kill people by burning. They killed people by setting fire on buses during our movement...The Kalshi incident proves that the incidents of torching buses were their activities.”
Khaleda gave Tk2 lakh to Mohammad Yeasin who lost nine relatives in the arson attack and Tk1 lakh to wife of deceased Azad. She also gave financial aides to the families of 36 victims.
