BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed confidence that the party will win the 2026 national election under Tarique Rahman’s leadership.
He made the remarks while delivering a goodwill speech at a public reception organized for Tarique Rahman in the capital’s 300 Feet area on Thursday afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul noted that although Tarique Rahman had remained in London for the past 17 years, he continued to lead and advance the country’s democratic movement from abroad.
“Following years of repression and exile, he has now returned home,” Mirza Fakhrul said, welcoming him on behalf of the people of Bangladesh. “Today is a day of great joy for us.”
He also called for cooperation from all to establish the rule of law and implement Tarique Rahman’s 31-point agenda.
Mirza Fakhrul sought prayers from the people of the country for Tarique Rahman and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who is currently receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital.
