Although BNP reiterated its demand for a specific election roadmap, along with the trial of fascists and the completion of reforms, party leaders said they did not receive any assurance on these issues during their meeting with Chief Adviser Prof Yunus on Saturday.

"Reforms, the trial (of fascists), and elections were discussed during the meeting. We said that these issues are mutually exclusive," said BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain while speaking to reporters following the over hour-long meeting with the chief adviser at his official residence, Jamuna.

In response to a question about whether they received any feedback regarding a specific election timeframe, BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said: "We placed our demands… but he (Prof Yunus) did not provide any specific response."

However, he noted that the chief adviser’s office may issue a formal response later through a media briefing.

When asked whether they were satisfied with the outcome of the meeting, Salahuddin replied: “There is no need to answer that question.”

Earlier in the day, a four-member BNP delegation, led by Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, attended the meeting with Chief Adviser Prof Yunus as part of efforts to ease the mounting political tension in the country.

The other members of the delegation were BNP Standing Committee Members Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Salahuddin Ahmed.
