To enhance the organizational dynamism of the National Citizen Party (NCP), a set of necessary policies has been proposed. The minimum age for conveners of district-upazila committees has been set at 40 years.
According to the proposed policy, the 64 districts have been divided into 19 zones for organizational purposes. This proposal was made at the party’s third general meeting held on Friday at the temporary office in Banglamotor, Dhaka.
In the same meeting, it was decided that district committees would consist of a minimum of 31 and a maximum of 51 members, while upazila committees would have a minimum of 21 and a maximum of 41 members.
The party has also announced a protest program in Dhaka this week demanding the trial of the Awami League for genocide, reforms, and Constituent Assembly elections.
The meeting was presided over by NCP convener Nahid Islam and conducted by member secretary Akhtar Hossain.
Key discussion topics included: determining region-based organizational policies for NCP, drafting reform proposals, initiating a campaign for the trial of the Awami League for genocide, demanding Constituent Assembly elections, urging the government to adopt effective policies to stop border killings, protesting Israeli violence in Gaza and suppression of movements against the Waqf Bill in India, and strongly calling on the government to curb price hikes and bring public relief.
The meeting began with a formal condolence message on the passing of the mother of NCP's central organizer, Khairul Kabir.
The proposed organizational policies were presented by chief organizers Sarjis Alam (Northern Region) and Hasnat Abdullah (Southern Region).
Additionally, in response to recent allegations of organizational misconduct against some NCP leaders and activists on social media and in public spaces, the meeting unanimously decided to form an organizational “Discipline and Investigation Committee.” This committee will be officially announced on Sunday.
The decisions of the third general meeting were shared with the media in a statement signed by NCP’s Joint Member Secretary (Office) Saleh Uddin Sifat at midnight on Friday.
