BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Friday urged all party leaders and activists to forget interpersonal conflicts and wage a united movement against the government.
He said the government still stood strong for holding polls under its arrangement, though time was short.
“The government does not have much time. Still they have not agreed to hold polls under non-partisan government,” he said, while addressing a discussion at a city hotel Friday.
“We have to wage a tougher movement to oust them and resist polls from being held under partisan government.”
Fakhrul said democracy and sovereignty of the country would be at stake if polls were not held in a fair manner.
“An inclusive election is possible when the government decides to amend the constitution by inserting provision for non-partisan caretaker government,” he said.
Fakhrul called for unity while some leaders alleged that some leaders, who were known as post-1/11 reformists ,were still active.
The BNP spokesperson said: “We need to unite and forget all our differences for the sake of our country and democracy."
