The women’s wing of Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded the public execution of rapists and the resolution of rape cases within 90 days.

On Saturday, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s women’s wing made these demands during a human chain protest in front of the National Press Club, calling for justice against rape and punishment for perpetrators.

Professor Nurunnisa Siddika, secretary of the women’s wing, said: “The verdict in the Achiya murder case must be delivered within a week, and the accused must be sentenced to death. All rapists must be hanged.”

She added: “The spread of irreligion and the erosion of moral values due to an unethical education system are responsible for these crimes. An Islamic education system must be implemented, and people must be inspired by religious values.”

She also said: “The law must be properly enforced, and delays in the judicial process must be avoided. The culture of impunity must end. The provision of imprisonment for rape cases should be abolished, and only the death penalty should be imposed.”

She further added: “Rapists have continued to escape through legal loopholes, which is why this social menace persists.”

She continued: “Rapists must be hanged publicly in their localities so that no one dares to commit such crimes in the future. The interim government has announced that rape cases will be resolved within 90 days and that the provision for bail will be abolished.”

“We demand the implementation of this announcement. Achiya was not only raped but also murdered. The perpetrators of this crime must be brought to justice in line with the government’s announcement and our five demands. Otherwise, women will take to the streets in a fierce movement,” said the Jamaat leader.
